How to design clothes for non-professional models are made with recycled goods
Never a gateway integrates different concepts under one umbrella. This is, to another fashion possible.
With designs made exclusively with recycled items and clothing for non-professional models, which embody very different realities, the project Fashion Fair returns to Valencia on Sunday 13 June at the Cultural Centre of Charity, at 19h. Real people who do not meet the standards-Spanish 90-60-90, immigrants, people with disabilities, will wear garments made with reused materials only for that purpose.
Following the success of the last issue, the project developed by the NGO SETEM Communicate Valencia, and funded by the Generalist Valencia through the Ministry of Solidarity and Citizenship, returns to proclaim that fashion can and should underpin a production system that respects with the environment and labor rights.
However, not only fashionable living humans, so after the parade, the organization has thought of inviting the audience with a tasting of organic and fair-trade products. That is, one thing leads to another, because of what it is to raise awareness about the origin of the articles (edible and not) to consume daily. In the words of Silvia Ibanez, Valencia SETEM director, “we give an overview of fashion beyond involves submitting a collection, closer to the business model prevailing in the sector, which rarely uses a friendly production environment and labor rights, which assesses the quantity rather than quality. ” In addition, this happens both with clothes and with food and generally, all the items you consume each day.
The designs consist of 25 pieces made by students of the EASD of Alco. The mandatory requirement that they have been applied to young artists was to use only recycled materials, i.e. could not even buy a button. In addition to the clothes of the pupils and models will be dressed in business initiatives that have launched recycling philosophy. In addition, thus, demonstrate real commercial potential of this production system.
The proposals of the gateway sign just reflect a broad panorama of possibilities to create a fair and respectful. For example, Rudraksha, a company that sells goods made in India by a women’s cooperative. O Mil.luna, the brand launched by Caritas from a proposed inclusion of women. In addition, even a typical Valencia clothing collection with a modern twist, designed with recycled materials! In short, this edition promises, once again, prove with facts that another mode is possible
